Tebecis

Maris is an Associate Director in the climate and sustainability practice. Maris has almost ten years of experience as a diplomat, serving in Sweden, Denmark, Serbia and Croatia. He led policy analysis and advocacy on political and economic affairs in the Nordic and Western Balkan regions. This included working on green investment promotion, bilateral trade agreement negotiations and candidacy campaigns for multilateral organisations. He provided advice and support to several cabinet ministers and worked on the G20 and international climate and sustainability negotiations.
Recently, Maris co-led RE100, the largest global corporate renewable energy initiative. In this role, he led RE100’s policy practice's work to remove barriers to the corporate procurement of renewables and was involved in organising Climate Week NYC.
At Global Counsel, he leads international work, providing strategic advice on challenges and opportunities in corporate pathways to net zero. He has expertise in Australia, critical raw materials and mining, and renewable energy.
