Global Counsel strengthens financial services practice and Web3 capabilities
Global Counsel has expanded its global financial services capabilities to help clients navigate increasingly complex regulatory and policy landscapes worldwide. This expansion includes key promotions, the addition of experienced UK and EU senior advisers, and a strengthened offer for Web3 companies through Greenbrier, a division of The Messina Group (TMG), Global Counsel’s strategic partner.
Key promotions:
Matthew Conway has been promoted to Practice Director of Financial Services. With nearly 30 years in public and regulatory policy, Matthew previously held senior roles at FTI Consulting, UK Finance, and Lloyds Banking Group.
David Song, now Director, specialises in European policy for payments, fintech, and digital assets. He formerly worked with a UK trade body for the banking, payments, and finance sectors.
New Senior Advisers:
Benedict Brogan is one of the UK's most influential political journalists and commentators, with more than 25 years’ experience in senior roles at the Daily Mail and the Daily Telegraph, before spending a decade at Lloyds Banking Group as Group Public Affairs Director, where he remains a senior advisor to the Group CEO. As a Senior Adviser to Global Counsel’s portfolio of financial services, fintech and investor clients, he brings insights and advice to firms looking to tell their story to policymakers, regulators, commentators and industry leaders in the UK.
Martine Doyon is highly experienced in UK and EU financial services policy and regulation, having most recently served for more than a decade as Head of Government Affairs for EMEA at Goldman Sachs, where she guided the firm through the aftermath of the global financial crisis and Brexit. Prior to Goldman Sachs, she served as Head of International Strategy for the Markets Division at the UK Financial Services Authority. As a Senior Adviser, she will strengthen the Global Counsel financial services offering and help clients better navigate the UK and EU policy and regulatory landscape, providing strategic insights and advice.
