Insight & intelligence

A regular set of analysis and insight for engaging the US and EU policy process

Overview

Responsible for representing the interests of some of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, the client wanted to develop a strategy for how to engage with the policy process on both sides of the Atlantic.

Work

As part of our ongoing work, we provide comprehensive and customised analysis, monitoring, and intelligence gathering on domestic and cross-border policy developments such as US-UK trade negotiations, the WTO debate over the TRIPs waiver, EU, UK and US industrial policy and life sciences regulation.

We also provide the client with stakeholder mapping and strategic advice for engaging with the policy process at the national and international level in the EU and UK.

Impact

Our analysis and intelligence have been used by the client to develop and deliver constructive engagement around US-UK trade negotiations and debate at the WTO on TRIPS waiver. Our advice has also positioned the client to develop its outreach in a way that reflects the policy priorities of its public sector partners.

A monitoring service covering policy risk in emerging markets

Overview

Our client faces a wide range of political, policy and economic risks in more than twenty emerging markets in Asia and Africa, all overseen by a small government relations team at the centre. Our global team is embedded in the client team, creating additional bandwidth, providing regular monitoring, intelligence and strategic advice.

Work

We provide the client with regular political and policy monitoring to support them in understanding and anticipating risks across their operating markets – and briefing their senior leadership on these.

We deliver bespoke research on political, social and economic trends presenting challenges and opportunities for the client, including key developments related to digital, trade and ESG policy.

Impact

For almost a decade we have been an integral part of the client’s structures for monitoring and engaging with policy change across its global markets.

A training programme on ESG policy trends

Overview

The leadership development arm of an Indian multinational conglomerate sought to develop the understanding of its group of companies on environment, social and governance (ESG) issues.

Work

We covered the key environmental, social and governance issues, how materiality is determined by corporates and investors, and how ESG has evolved from approaches which seek to avoid negative impact to ones focused on positive outcomes. The webinar explored the various stakeholders to be aware of in the ESG industry, including standard setters, data and ranking providers, and policymakers. Finally, we addressed some of the key trends to watch, such as a renewed focus on biodiversity, supply chain due diligence and corporate responsibility in court.

Impact

The webinar was attended by more than 100 specialists across the client’s companies and helped them gain a better foundational understanding of ESG, including the various industry players to be aware of, and where pressure (both in the form of regulatory pressures and broader societal expectations) are likely to come from in the coming years.
