GC has been tasked to provide external support and advice to the client’s HQ communication and government affairs team, covering remotely 16 markets in Central and Southeastern Europe. Using in-house resources and a wide network of partners and advisors in the markets, GC provided a substantial additional bandwidth through a range of products and services to advise on current business-critical political issues and policy developments in the markets.

GC has served as an exclusive provider of comprehensive regular updates on UK and EU flagship policy areas and geopolitical topics impacting the business community. Our expert teams have provided advice on key stakeholders to engage in the EU institutions, EU member states and the UK, supported incoming delegations with prepared reading materials and in-person briefings, and organized meetings or multi-stakeholder events in European capitals.

GC mapped challenges and opportunities for the client’s business model and brand in Europe, identified policy conversations in EU institutions and managed stakeholder outreach in Brussels. We tracked major policy and regulatory developments, provided detailed analysis of key EU legislation, targeted support with outreach to relevant EU markets and advice on the most useful products to showcase. Finally, our team explored opportunities for the client to espouse their perspective and shape the discussion.

The GC team investigated and analysed the near- and medium-term geopolitical risks centred around the investment target’s operations in Serbia and how changes in the country’s social and political spheres could impact the business. The primary lines of inquiry and the final written report included: the domestic political and policy landscape; Serbia’s geopolitical positioning vis-à-vis EU, Russia, China and the US; and the country’s business climate with a specific focus on human and social capital.
