Ambitious decarbonisation goals have been set at global forums. Against the backdrop of increased pressures at a national level and the scale of the financing challenge ahead, governments are now increasingly turning to both corporates and investors to play their role in providing the finance necessary to meet these global targets.
This dynamic between the public and private sectors will play out at multilateral events towards the end of 2024. In a year characterised by elections and profound political change, delegates will be approaching discussions with new mandates to address climate change, the financing of the green transition, and negotiating a ‘New Collective Quantified Goal’. With many green finance schemes being devised around assumptions about how corporates and investors can play their role, now is the time for companies to input on next steps at the national, international and/or regional level.
GC provides support to a number of clients to anticipate the complex sustainable finance landscape that is emerging and understand regulatory divergence between regions. Alongside this, we work with financial institutions and broader corporates across the globe, supporting the development of policy positions on key sustainable finance files and the publication of expert papers on emerging policy areas. This includes anticipating how these regulations are likely to change in the next few years to help future-proof work, in addition to providing bespoke engagement support to work with policymakers on the shape of regulation.
