James works with pharmaceutical, life sciences and manufacturing clients to navigate evolving trade policies and priorities in the UK and globally.
James is an Associate Director in Global Counsel’s trade and manufacturing policy practice. Prior to joining Global Counsel, James served in various roles in the UK Civil Service, including most recently as Head of World Trade Organization Operations at the Department for International Trade and as Private Secretary to the Business Secretary at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Before joining the Civil Service, James interned at Global Counsel in the trade and manufacturing policy practice.
At Global Counsel he works with UK pharmaceutical, life sciences and manufacturing clients, across a range of sectors, to navigate evolving trade policies and priorities in the UK and globally.
Recent examples of his work include:
- Advising a life sciences client on the long-term regulatory, operational and geopolitical risks of decoupling supply chains.
- Designing advocacy strategies for clients in the life sciences sector for the UK’s upcoming FTA negotiations and engagement and negotiations at the WTO.
