Lorna provides strategic advice to clients on engaging with governments and international institutions, and supports them to anticipate policy developments and global trends that will have a material impact.
Lorna leads Global Counsel's Climate and Sustainability practice. Over the last ten years, Lorna has worked as a policy advisor on Climate Change for the UK government. Lorna led the UK Presidency's Adaptation Negotiations at COP26 and prior to that, led the UK's carbon markets negotiations. Earlier in her career Lorna worked with energy intensive industries to develop policies to reduce their emissions including developing the UK's strategy to reduce industrial emissions to meet domestic targets.
At GC, Lorna leads on providing policy and regulatory advice and assisting clients to understand both the risks and opportunities.
Recent examples of her work include:
- Working with companies to expand into and explore new markets through identifying entry points and ensuring clients are targeting the right decisionmakers in the right places with the right messages.
- Advising clients on engagement at large multilateral events such as UNFCCC COPs to raise their profile and engage meaningfully with discussions.
- Supporting clients in understanding quickly evolving regulatory areas including EU sustainable finance action plan, plastics and waste and resource strategies globally.
