Nicholas advises on regulatory and policy risks and political instability in Southeast Asia markets, including providing regulatory due diligence on a target acquisitions, and advising on market entry and related risks and opportunities.
Nicholas is an Associate Director in Global Counsel’s Singapore Office. He previously worked in the Group Chief Corporate Officer’s Office at Sea Limited, a leading global consumer internet company, where he was involved across investor relations, market analysis for senior management and capital markets. He was also involved in multiple capital market transactions, including the largest fundraise in Southeast Asia history.
Prior to that, Nicholas worked in the Corporate Strategy team at Singapore Exchange (SGX) and has experience executing due diligence on M&A transactions, as well as working with various business units to identify and evaluate new business opportunities. Nicholas started his career at SGX as a Management Associate and has rotated across multiple functions including equity capital markets, derivatives clearing, regulatory development and policy, as well as the chief executive’s office.
Recent examples of his work include:
- Providing regulatory due diligence on a target acquisition of a technology platform for an investment fund, with a focus on the structured products landscape in Asia.
- Advising a global insurance provider on potential policy risks arising from political instability in its core Southeast Asia markets and the probable impact to its businesses.
- Working with an insurtech firm on entering new markets and analysing the related risks and opportunities of each market.
