Global Counsel expands its advisers network in Asia
Global Counsel, a leading global strategic advisory firm helping corporates, investors, public sector and civil society organisations manage risks and opportunities in politics, regulation, and public policy, is excited to announce the expansion of its advisers network in Asia.
The expansion is part of a sustained initiative by Global Counsel to invest in key markets across the region. Together with GC's team of consultants based in Singapore, the advisers network will bolster GC's regional coverage and provide consulting services to clients so they can seize growth opportunities in cross-border trade and investment between Asia and the rest of the world.
Comprising distinguished individuals with decades of leadership experience across several sectors and geographies, the network is comprised of:
John Koh
John has spent his career growing and supporting businesses in Southeast Asia and is an active participant in the arts and culture sector. In addition to sitting on the boards of Asian corporates including Aurora Mobile Ltd, NSL Ltd, and Mapletree Industrial Trust, he is also on the advisory boards of the Asian Civilisation Museum and the Bodleian Library. He has over thirty years' experience in investment banking and law and was previously a managing director and senior advisor for Goldman Sachs.
Dr Ong Kian Ming
Dr. Ong is a former Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia. He has extensive experience in Malaysian politics and led the largest constituency in the country until the end of 2022. He brings special insight into the political and policy dynamics of the country but also the Southeast Asian region more broadly for clients looking to operate in these markets, understand trade and investment flows, and the convergence of technology and industry development.
Tiffany has over twenty years of experience as a diplomat, serving in the UK, Indonesia, Korea, and most recently as Australia's High Commissioner to Brunei during its high-profile ASEAN Chair year. She has led multilateral negotiations and cross-government projects, successfully navigated governments and businesses to secure strategic outcomes, from regulatory reforms, removal of market access impediments, to providing high-level advice on managing geopolitical and strategic risk.
David Skilling
David has over 25 years of experience in the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Europe helping governments, firms, and financial institutions to interpret and find opportunities in geopolitical and geoeconomic dynamics. He has served as senior adviser to the Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade in New Zealand. He has also held senior roles at McKinsey & Co, including as a senior fellow with the McKinsey Global Institute, the company’s in-house economic think-tank. Before joining McKinsey, David was the founding Chief Executive of the New Zealand Institute, a privately funded, non-partisan economic think tank, and was a Principal Adviser at the New Zealand Treasury.
Hon Mun is a leading private food technology investor with more than thirty years of investment, operations, and board level experience with PE funds, family offices and startups. He was the former chief executive of the Sino-Singapore Jilin Food Zone in China and has held leadership roles in businesses in Thailand. He will bring great value to our clients in the agriculture and sustainability space, whether they are operating in Asia or globally, looking to scale or navigating ever-changing investment and regulatory frameworks.
Ying is the Chief Sustainability Officer of Plastic Energy, a technology company focused on advanced recycling of plastics. Between 2013-2020 she led Global Counsel’s Asia practice, where she supported Asian and European clients on issues around trade, market entry, sustainability, access to finance and reputation management.
